What’s Wrong with Your Tea Menu?

Coffee centric? We get it, but give your leaves some love!
Coffee centric? We get it, but give your leaves some love!

Hello coffee roasters, we’re looking at you!

Quite frequently when we look at a coffee roaster’s coffee menu, we see all kind of delightful information such as growing regions, roast level, and tasting notes. This is wonderfully enticing for the coffee seeker, but all too often, their tea offering is not listed with as much detail and therefore, less attractive to the guest. Many times, when we peek at a coffee client’s online menu, the tea section will say simply “hot tea” or “iced tea” with a one size fits all price. If you’re lucky you might see “chai latte” or “matcha latte.”

Are you guilty of this? You're leaving money in tea sales on the table. Tea is more popular than ever so you don't want to miss those sales! Happy to report, that it is a problem easily fixed. Your tea vendors can provide guidance as to origin of the tea or base tea, and any key selling points or tasting notes for you via their website or sending an email. We understand that coffee roasting takes a lot of time and skill, so of course it is natural to show off your labor of love! But be sure to also give some love to your leafy beverage offering. This will ensure additional tea sales to those customers who either are not coffee drinkers or are simply in the mood for something leafy.

Your tea menu could easily look something like this:

English Breakfast – A rich, smooth Keemun from Fujian, China with red wine-like fruitiness and complex finish. Great straight up or with your milk of choice.

Peach Oolong – Lush, ripe peach notes blended with smooth, roasted oolong from Taiwan’s misty mountains for a summery treat any time of year. A touch of honey enhances its natural sweetness.

Berry Blast Herbal – A fruit and hibiscus caffeine free, options that is flavorful and vibrant with notes of fresh berries and tangy-sweet notes of Egyptian hibiscus. Fabulous iced!

See how the above menu sounds so much more enticing? By enhancing their descriptions, you give the teas their due, show your knowledge of origin, and of course, truly entice additional sales. Your tea customers will love you for it and kindly boost your tea business! Let us know if you need help!
